Yellow fabrics: balance light and contrasts

Yellow draws the eye, whether it occupies the background of the fabric or only a few printed elements. Before choosing a piece, observe its place in the palette and its contrast with other colors. The effect of a large dress may differ from that of a small insert.

Choose a readable combination

For a solid detail, you can pick a shade from the pattern or calm the overall look with a more subdued tone. Compare the surface of the colors in the project: a narrow border and a full piece do not balance the design in the same way.

Check the background and transparency

On a light reference, check the opacity and color of the elements placed underneath. A lining, pocket, or facing can alter the perceived yellow. Then choose the drape and structure according to the pattern, without deducting from the brightness of the color.

Does the indicated yellow always match the background color?

No. It may be present in the design. The photos and variants on the sheet allow you to identify the exact color of the piece and the accompanying colors.
