Orange fabrics: choose the placement of a bright color

Orange can provide a bright accent to a print or occupy a large area of the fabric. For your creation, look at the contrast with the background and neighboring colors. The result varies depending on whether you use the swatch on a whole piece or as a detail.

Distribute the colored areas

On a large pattern, choose the position of the orange elements before cutting the front and sleeves. A small pocket may show only a fraction of the design. For a solid border, take a color from the pattern considering the proportion it will occupy in the garment.

Check the properties useful for cutting

A gathered dress requires a different drape than a structured skirt. Therefore, compare the fall, opacity, and stretch of the swatch after choosing the palette. If multiple fabrics are combined, also check their behavior during care and their compatibility at the seams.

Does an orange fabric always correspond to a solid background?

No. Orange can be part of the print. Examine the photos of the selected color and the complete composition of its palette before choosing your swatch.
