Purple fabrics: compose a palette around the shade

Purple can be subtle in a design or become the dominant color of the swatch. Look at its associations with the background and other patterns before choosing your project. Reflections and texture can alter its perception, especially when multiple materials are assembled.

Choose a finish that complements the color

For a border or a yoke, take a shade that is truly visible in the pattern. A close color and a marked contrast do not have the same effect on the silhouette. Compare the samples of materials in similar lighting when composing the ensemble.

Link the design to the pattern

A large purple composition requires thinking about placement on pockets, sleeves, and the front. Then check the fluidity, opacity, and elasticity according to the garment. The yardage must cover the main pieces and finishes, as well as any necessary joins.

Does the purple classification mean the entire fabric is purple?

No. This color may be present in part of the pattern. The photos and options on the sheet specify the appearance of the proposed color.
