Low fluidity fabrics: choose a material that moves less with motion
Low fluidity describes a less mobile drape. It does not automatically mean the fabric is thick or very rigid. For your project, compare this characteristic with the structure, composition, and recommended uses on the sheet.
Anticipate volume in the pattern
Gathers or pleats made with a low fluidity fabric may remain more pronounced than with a highly draped material. Observe the volume desired at the waist, sleeves, or hem of the garment. A simple cut can also highlight the surface of the swatch.
Check other properties
Verify opacity and elasticity according to the model's needs. Low fluidity does not guarantee coverage or stability under tension. For collars, belts, or pockets, conduct a sewing and reinforcement test to maintain the desired behavior without creating unnecessary bulk.
Does low fluidity necessarily mean structured?
No. Structure and fluidity are evaluated separately. Check both indications to know if the fabric retains shape or is simply less mobile in its drape.
