Almost opaque fabrics: check coverage according to the project

An almost opaque fabric may slightly reveal what is underneath depending on the light, color, and cut. When choosing a swatch, think about the garment worn rather than the fabric simply laid flat.

Compare useful overlays

A loose blouse, a skirt, and pants do not expose the fabric to the same tensions. Test the rendering with the planned elements underneath. A pocket, facing, or partial lining may become visible and alter the color balance, especially on a light background.

Choose a finish that preserves the drape

If you add a lining, compare its fluidity and elasticity with the main material. It should follow the garment without holding it back. Then check the seams and sewing thicknesses, as their contours may show through the fabric.

Does almost opaque mean a lining is mandatory?

No. The need depends on the model, lighting, and desired result. Check the reference under your project conditions, then choose an appropriate construction.
