Paisley or cashmere patterned fabric: read the design before cutting
The paisley pattern, also known as cashmere, is recognized by its curved and ornamental shapes. Here, cashmere refers to the design, not the fiber. The composition of the piece can therefore be very different from cashmere wool.
Identify the shapes and borders
Some paisley designs are small and repeated; others occupy a large area or are organized in bands. Identify the important elements before placing a dress, blouse, or accessory. If a border is present, check its direction and position relative to the grainline.
Match the ornament to the silhouette
A model with large pieces can maintain the composition of the pattern, while inserts may fragment it. Compare the drape of the fabric with the gathers or pleats considered. For a solid combination, choose a shade from the design and a material whose structure does not unbalance the garment.
Does a paisley patterned fabric contain cashmere?
Not necessarily. The name of the pattern does not indicate the fibers. Check the product sheet for the material composition and care instructions.
